Virtual Walk South West Coastal Path
Peter and Carole led us on a virtual trip along the South West Coastal Path between Minehead and Poole. This was a lavish adventure. Peter contrived to find us virtual rooms in up-market hotels, to dine with Rick Stein in Padstow and suggested the best of the foods and wine available everywhere that we stayed. We timed immaculately our arrival at numerous ferries across tidal rivers and inlets; somehow connected with steam trust railways and even had a day off at St. Ives for surfing and ice-creams. Never have so many virtual lobsters, steaks, pasties, cream teas and ice creams been consumed whilst walking 80+ miles each day. For the second virtual walk in succession, everyone who participated had a wonderful experience and clamoured for more (see below). Carole reported that she had given up trying to get Peter interested in using his mobile ‘phone but leading this walk means that he is now hardly ever off his ‘phone.
No sooner had we returned to Leicestershire than Jenny Alexander volunteered to take us overseas, on a treasure hunt in Ireland. The starting point on Friday 17th April was something to do with Ruth Rendell’s Inspector? Some of us had to resort to Google for clue number one, so I think there will be a lot of lost souls somewhere in Ireland, in a week’s time.
