Interesting Topiary.....

December may have been the warmest month for a long time, but it was also the wettest!  Although by no means as problematic as it was to our friends in the North, Leicestershire has had its fair share of rainfall, and Wednesday's 'C' walk can certainly vouch for that.

Barbara Witting, stepping into the breach for the first post-Christmas walk for KRG, led 16 intreped walkers from a Kibworth Beauchamp starting point across sodden, muddy but none the less beautiful countryside between there, Saddington and Fleckney.

As it happens, the day was a dry one so wet weather gear proved unnecessary as the group, stopping off to say hello to some interesting topiary, headed across open countryside to Saddington.  They then for the canal first walking over the tunnel from Fleckney Road before picking up the canal path and heading for the Millenium Woods. The ground underfoot was decidely slippy with at least one member (fortunately unhurt) trying the bottom first approach.

Rewarded with a stimulating and sometimes challenging walk, the walkers wound their way back to Kibworth with some retiring to The Railway Inn on Station Road in order to enjoy a hearty and well earned pub lunch.
